Effective June 1, 2010, Barney took over the position of Executive Director of the Friends of Frank DeMiero, a non-profit organization that produces the annual DeMiero Jazz Fest in Edmonds, Washington. The festival features an opportunity for school, college, and community jazz bands and choirs to perform in a clinic environment. Additionally, the organization is developing Jazz Reach, a program designed to place professional artists in schools for clinics and workshops. The Festival also has three nights of performances with John Pizzarelli Quartet, Freddy Cole Quartet, and Karrin Allyson as the headliners for March 3, 4, & 5, 2011.
